James Island Yacht Club: This project consisted of the design and construction of all new marine facilities for the James Island Yacht Club in Charleston, SC. There is a new 430’ long fixed concrete pier, supported by 18” square prestressed piles. The pier has a 16’ wide approach to a 50’ square T-head, with a 3-ton motorized Gorbel boat hoist. All poured in place concrete contains DCIS corrosion inhibitor, and the design is modeled after a SCDOT “flat slab” bridge design, which provides superior corrosion resistance and durability. Cape Romain was also responsible for installing new wave attenuators and floating docks, a new boat ramp access pier. Demolition and the removal of the existing marine facilities completed the project.
