Fripp Island Bridge repairs: Cape Romain’s crew is made up of members of our diving division. Working from floats, boats, and barges the divers install translucent polymer forms around the piles in need of repair; they are then belted tight in many locations vertically up and down the pile; 6” of epoxy paste is poured into the bottom of the form where it is locked tightly to the pile. Once the epoxy has cured, epoxy grout is pumped into the forms to form the protective layer around the piles. The polymer forms stay in place after the belts are removed for further protection of the piles. Concrete spalls are sawcut and unsound concrete is removed. Forms encompass the area to be re-poured, an epoxy bonding agent is applied, and when ready concrete is placed.
