Scope of Services:
- Installation of approximately 7000 lf of marine cable
- Demolition of existing Range Towers
- Installation of two Range Towers
- Testing of facilities for acceptance
The two U. S. Coast Guard Range Towers were fabricated here in the Charleston area my Millennium Metal Fabricators. The parts and pieces were shipped to Cape Romain Contractors, Inc. marine facility located in Wando, SC for final erection and transportation to the final location in Charleston Harbor near Ft. Sumter. Pipe piling were driven and the main structures were set in place and welded. While the erection crews were performing their work Cape Romain’s dive crew were laying over 7000 lf for subaqueous cable from Ft. Johnson to the rear tower and from Ft. Sumter for the front tower to power the electrical components.
